At HOME By Simon Belcher, we pride ourselves on turning dreams into reality for our clients. Over the past year, we've had the privilege of working with a wonderful and resilient family in Kimpton, Hertfordshire, to breathe new life into their 1970s home.

This project was not just about renovations; it was about collaboration and partnership. Our goal was to create a streamlined, warm, and modern atmosphere whilst preserving the property's unique character. With our clients' vision at the forefront, we embarked on a journey to revitalise and reimagine every corner of their family home.

From the outset, we established core design principles: skirting boards, herringbone flooring, shaker-style doors with bronze handles, and dimmable lighting switches, amongst others. These elements provided a cohesive foundation, allowing us to infuse each room with its own distinct charm.

In the children's bedrooms, ceiling-mounted app-controlled LED lights added a touch of fun and functionality. Satin black metal internal doors now lead to the newly created snug area which boasts stunning oiled walnut wood panelling, creating a cosy retreat for relaxation throughout the day or night. Even the hallway received a makeover, with the addition of pull-out understairs storage.

One of the project's highlights was the transformation of the dining area. We installed a custom-made single post support to allow the new black metal bifold doors to seamlessly integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring structural integrity without compromising aesthetics – perfect for summer parties and entertaining.

A custom designed dining table stands out as a stunning centerpiece, whilst new storage and a bespoke designed bar bring an element of elegance and sophistication. These additions not only create a focal point to the space but also provide a dedicated area to socialise with friends or to simply relax and unwind.

Of course, no renovation comes without its challenges. From modifying plumbing for wall-mounted taps to knocking through walls to create open-plan spaces, our team faced obstacles head-on. Yet, with determination and ingenuity, we overcame every hurdle, delivering results that exceeded our clients' expectations.

While construction was underway, curtains, wall and ceiling feature lighting, mirrors, furniture, internal and external doors were being sourced, designed and produced in the background ready for installation as soon as each room was ready.

Throughout the entire project, our clients remained engaged and enthusiastic, eagerly anticipating each new phase. Their unwavering support and positive attitude were a driving force behind the project's success - including very friendly daily welcomes from their lovely dogs!
